Keep Aflame
This is the true Christian
Who will, though bent and frail
Hold the fort in strength
Lacing his shoes as the Master’s harbinger*
When snags* stick like glue
Despondency* hot on his trail
He will go the length
He that bears the word more than a messenger
He won’t descend from the blue
He will stand and not fail
Running and yet not faint
If he dips not in the world’s sauce, his finger
As our tales once grew
Like cool streams in the vale*
Our record, should count on earth
And move men unto growth, not hinder
Keeping the bond that makes us one,
Placing us before the world as grail*
Let’s keep aflame by our taken oath
For soon we’ll be on this terrestrial ball no longer!
Matt. 5:15-16 “15 People don’t hide a lamp under a bowl. They put it on a lampstand. Then the light shines for everyone in the house. 16 In the same way, you should be a light for other people. Live so that they will see the good things you do and praise your Father in heaven.”(ERV)
