Help me Finish

When no one seems to be of help

When even my mentors discourage me

And my leaders no more lead

Let me in my stride not relent

When I stare into failure’s face

When success is behind me

And an unavoidable pit before me

In Your arms let me be borne

If after all Your grace I remain grave

Of your blessings I yet Plead

And despite your mercies, I remain a mess

Of Your wrath’s path let me not cross

If salvation I treat with laxity*

Making the cross differ not from its hewn source

And Your glorious presence I misrepresent

Let Your promise not evade me

If my little effort I engage

Indulging in service for you

And the fruits I see not

Let my strength not abate

In that I understand a race I run

Let me know that death is a wage

And eternal life a gift

And though I trip and fall seven times

Help me to rise, run and finish.

2Tim 4:6 I have fought long and hard for my Lord, and through it all I have kept true to him. And now the time has come for me to stop fighting and rest. (TLB)
