Heat Of Enticement

Not when the urge no respite knows

Not when so glaring reveals the details

Do we know we battle

We wrestle daybreak till twilight!

As many seem not to see

And of the devil’s wiles make plea

So the accuser seems unseen

Fuelling the store that makes plea

Under the hood of subtlety*

Many a trap is set

Not to utter fall

But to provoke and ensnare

Deadening our conscience’s check

These wiles will ebb our strength

And on the floats of reason

Will sink at sea our ship

When anchors no more will hold

And despite no visible sails our paths are charted

It’s ‘cos we forsook a warrior’s trail

Desiring the treat of a casual bystander        ~

When we know our strength’s source

As to stand and fight our temptations

The truth of reason will fulfill

For we wrestle not flesh, not blood

From daybreak, till twilight.

2Corinthians 10:4-5 The weapons we fight with are not the weapons of the world. On the contrary, they have divine power to demolish strongholds. We demolish arguments and every pretension that sets itself up against the knowledge of God, and we take captive every thought to make it obedient to Christ.”(NIV)
