If your life be required of you
To whom shall you plead a second chance?
When eternity has come to be
And your time on earth is no more!
If your life be required of you
What with shall you your crown claim?
Whom shall you lead as your own
That the weapons of your stay have brought?
If your life be required of you
What shall you your Saviour tell?
To whom shall your plea be made?
After these years that have been!
If your life be required of you
What angels will glory at your call?
Will you from the Master hear
“Well-done, my faithful servant”?
If your life be required of you
What book shall your record be found?
What page shall do the honour
That a son once prodigal is home? ~
If your life be required of you
Will you sing knowing home is near?
Or will you weep your eyes sore
Knowing the line is drawn?
If of Christ you are named
The treasures in heaven
What worth will be yours
If now your life be required of you?
